Tofino in British Columbia is a little piece of paradise and Pacific Sands Beach Resort is the perfect place to stay. Located right on the beach at Cox Bay Beach, this beautiful property is great for a holiday with family or loved ones.

I was able to stay there for my birthday which made the stay all that more special. The kids loved running around the property, laying in hammocks and climbing in the trees. We enjoyed sitting by the on site fir pits at night and taking walks down Sunset Trail to the Ocean.

Tofino is a magical place. It is unlike any other part of Canada with its coastal vibes, beach front views and unforgettable sunsets.

3 REASONS TO STAY AT PACIFIC SANDS

LOCATION: Ocean views are right outside your window: The beach is only steps away and you can see the ocean from most rooms.

THE PROPERTY: The grounds are huge. With lots of space to walk and wonder around, you can either enjoy the beach or relax from the grounds.  There are hammocks positioned all over the property for you to enjoy as well as on sire fire pits at night. There is lots of room for kids to play and no real need to even leave the property.

ROOMS AND SUITES:  There are a variety of rooms with in suite kitchens, living room areas and more. Take your own groceries and prepare meals on site. There are also many BBQ's on site for your use. Some rooms even have their own hots tubs. You can view the accommodation here. For reference, we stayed in the Lighthouse Suites with a perfect ocean view.

AMENITIES ON SITE

SURF SHACK: Enjoy tacos. burgers and breakfast sandwiches from the surf shack. The menu isn’t huge but the food is delicious. We grabbed our food and took it down to the fire pit to enjoy.

SURF AND BIKE RENTALS: You can rent bikes and beach cruisers from and surf boards from the surf shack all on site.
NORDIC BEACHFRONT WOODFIRE SAUNAS:  Book these for your own private experience. Extra fees apply.

HAMMOCKS: All over the property you will find large hammocks for you to rest in. Soak in the sun or read a good book while swinging away.

LAUNDRY: There is coin operated laundry facilities with complimentary detergent.

KITCHENS :Each room has full kitchen with stove, fridge, freezer and all the cooking utensils, pots and pans.

HOW TO GET HERE

Tofino is on the coast of Vancouver Island and is not easy to get to. You need to get to Vancouver Island and drive Highway 4. The road is really windy and you need to take it slow. It takes around 3 hours from Victoria. If you are flying in, you will want to fly into Victoria or Nanaimo and rent a car. Vancouver Island is accessible by ferry from Vancouver. The ferry over can cost around $100+ each way so you will want to be prepared. Booking a reservation for the ferry is highly recommended.

A FEW LAST TIPS

GROCERIES: Do your shop in Port Alberni on the way to Tofino. Groceries are expense in Tofino so you will want to stop and stock up for your stay.

PEAK TIMES: August is one of the busiest months in Tofino. You will want to book way ahead for your upcoming holidays and consider a year ahead. Tofino is small and the accommodations go quickly.

WEATHER READY: While Tofino has many warms days, there is also a breeze off the ocean and often fog on many days. You will want a few weathers or hoodies and even a light down jacket.
