I recently went with a trip booked through Sunwing Vacations, and honestly, this is the way to do it.

Flight, hotel, and transfers were all handled. When I landed in Cancun, I didn’t have to think about anything, From arrival to departure everything was orgazined through Sunwing Vacations. My driver was waiting for me with and my name so it was super easy to find once I landed.

No negotiating taxis as all transfers were prearanged for planned activities. Ubers on my own time were easy to grab for quick excursions.

I felt safe and secure from the moment I landed.

The Hotel: Riu Ventura (All-Inclusive Done Right)

I stayed at the brand new Riu Ventura Cancun.

Modern design, clean rooms, several for options including Italian, Mexican, a Steak house and more. They have a daily snack bar with tacos and burgers and of course a swim up bar and many bars for all inclusive drinks. If you don't drink alcohol they have many other options including espresso beverages.

The property has 6 pools included adults only roof top and kids pools.

Safety in Cancun (My Honest Experience)

Let’s talk about the thing everyone asks. Is it safe to go to Mexico.

I felt completely safe the entire time. Mexico is built around Tourism. Unless you are reckless, you will be safe just like anywhere else. Travelling smart is always in your court.

Here’s why:

The hotel zone is very controlled and tourism-focused
Transportation was organized and reliable
Staff and guides were professional everywhere we went
I used Uber without any issues
I explored beyond the resort and never felt uncomfortable

Like any destination, you stay aware. But Cancun, especially the hotel zone is built for tourism.

The Boat Day: Sailing, Drinks, and Unreal Water

One of the highlights of the trip was a tour with Nexus Tours in partnership with Cancun Adventures.

I went out sailing on unbelievable turquoise waters and visited Isla Mujeres Island just off of the mainland. The day trip was about 7 hours total and included a variety of activities.

A day trip with 4 hours to spend on Isla Mujeres ( walkable or rent a golf cart for 1 hr. Golf carts will run you about $60 USD for an hr).

La Isla Mall and Shopping

I wasn’t prepared for this massive outdoor mall. While it is americanized it makes for a great day of shopping if that is your thing.
